Who is the Giant Ginger?

Brian M. Scruggs is a freelance theatre designer specializing in lighting, sound and scenic design.  He holds a B.S. and an M.A. in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Technical Theatre from Eastern Michigan University.  He also holds an M.F.A. in Lighting Design from Wayne State University's illustrious Hilberry Repertory Theatre.

Brian has worked in regional theatres such as The Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Detroit Repertory Theatre, Tipping Point Theatre, Williamston Theatre and the Elizabeth Theatre to name a few.

Currently, Brian is an Assistant Professor at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan as a member of their Entertainment Design & Technology (ED&T) program.

He received Encore Michigan's 2012 Wilde Award for his lighting design of The Winter's Tale at The Michigan Shakespeare Festival's 2011 season.

He was also nominated for The Rogue Critic's 2012 Rogue's Gallery for his lighting design of Frank Langella's Cyrano at the Hilberry Repertory Theatre's 2011 season.
